  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a mixer, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add egg and mix well. Incorporate maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing on low speed. Stir in chopped pecans.
  4. Cover dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll dough into balls (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and place on prepared sheets. Bake for 12-13 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
  7. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. For icing: Melt butter and maple syrup in a saucepan; whisk in confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
