  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 4 hamburger buns (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, coconut water, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, black pepper, and gochujang.
  2. Place the beef chuck roast in a slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over it.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until tender.
  4. Shred the beef using two forks and return it to the slow cooker; stir in remaining sauce.
  5. Let simmer for an additional 15-30 minutes on low.
