Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until frothy.
  2. Stir in salt, oil, and two cups of flour. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
  3. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a 12-inch rope and cut a slit on each side. Twist the sides to form a bone shape.
  4. Arrange on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for an additional 45 minutes to an hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F during the last 10 minutes of rising. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan before serving warm with marinara sauce.
